Hey church!

Have you ever experienced eating in a new cafeteria for the first time? Either in a new school, new work place, etc? Do you remember trying to look for people to eat with? For some people it was a wonderful experience as they met new friends and joined a new circle of friends. For others it was an embarrassing and painful experience as they faced loneliness and rejection. If they were still alive many Bible characters would be able to tell us stories related to eating in “new cafeterias” or rather “new table companions”. One such character is Levi.

This Sunday we will meet with Levi in Luke 5:27-32 to explore what it means to be poor and how the poor can be good table companions.

Hey guys!

Last week we saw how the life, ministry and message of Jesus leaves no one indifferent. This set the stage for our new series: WEAPON OF MASS RECONCILIATION.

The gospels present the life of Jesus as he walked amongst human. In the upcoming weeks leading to Easter, we will dwell in the life of Jesus, walk the road he traveled and witness the works he performed through the Gospel of Luke. Through Luke we will see how Jesus came to deliver God’s WEAPON OF MASS RECONCILIATION.

JC life, ministry and message are part of a story that still goes on today. For over 2000 years Christ has been on a mission to redeem the world and build a community centered on Him. And the story of His life still collides with the history of humanity. Christ’s story is still being written out in the 21^st C as new ppl get to know him personally and as Christians learn to live in community the way Christ wants them to live. None of us and history itself is spared from the effect of his Salvation. Christ continues to write his story of salvation through our lives.

What is the deadliest weapon you know? What weapon deserves the title of WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION? A nuclear bomb? A Kamehameha?

Such weapons destroy, kill and obliterate. They also instill fear. You can hardly hide from their destruction. During the Cold War the fear of nuclear bomb attacks affected the entire population of 2 of the biggest nations: the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. (now dissolved into Soviet countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, etc). The Cold War and its nuclear threat drew the U.S. and U.S.S.R. apart. After a long road of diplomacy the U.S. and these Eastern European countries are befriending each other and are learning to work together once again. They are reconciling.

What if there was a “weapon” designed to bring people together? Instill love, acceptance, reconciliation? What if there was a WEAPON OF MASS RECONCILIATION? A weapon so strong and powerful that it could potentially change the whole landscape of the Earth and humankind! Is there such a weapon?

This Sunday come trembling and face the Jesus-hameha!!!
